Rockey is a lifetime Williamston resident and business leader.  Rockey grew up on the mill hill under the love and guidance of his parents, Steve and Sandra Burgess. After graduating Palmetto High School in 1993, Rockey started his career by dedicating to his country as a member of the U.S. Army National Guard.  He served 10 years in data communications and secure data transmissions in the Williamston and Anderson units.  He later worked for Bell Atlantic Mobile as a bench technician.  In 1996 Rockey joined the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office as a reserve officer.  He quickly realized that he wanted to serve his community and committed as a full time Sheriffs Deputy.  Rockey earned Master Deputy status and went on to become the SRO at Wren Middle School in Anderson School District One for several years. Rockey’s extensive knowledge in communications and law enforcement in addition to his strong entrepreneurial drive, prompted him to create his own company. Autech, LLC is a well recognized leader in the life-safety and communication industry.  Rockey’s business has seen steady growth during the last 15 years with a proven track record of both quality work and commitment to client satisfaction. In 2015, the Anderson Independent Mail recognized Rockey as one of the Top 20 under 40 leaders in the Upstate of SC.


Not only does Rockey operate a successful business in Williamston that serves the entire State of South Carolina, but he is also Williamston Town Councilman for Ward 2. Rockey Serves US!

Serving Others First.

Other associations that Rockey contributes his time and talents to include the following:  Williamston Masonic Lodge #24, Palmetto Business Association as a current member, past vice president, and First Citizens Bank advisory board member.   Rockey was also an Explorer Advisor for the Anderson County Sheriff’s Department and a previous Safe and Drug Free Schools coordinator for Anderson School District 1.  He also collaborated with Easter Seals to secure funding for children with special needs. Rockey has been the recipient of numerous awards including the prestigious W.C. Hunter award for his hard work and commitment to helping others.  All of these are examples of Rockey’s commitment to help his local community.

In 2015, Rockey’s was selected to present his knowledge of small business to then governor, Nikki Haley, and the South Carolina Economic Taskforce.

In addition to this extensive list of accomplishments and community support, Rockey is a devoted husband to Wendy, his wife of 23 years and a wonderful father to his three children, Austin, a senior at The Citadel,  Sophi (10) and Channing (8), both girls attend Cedar Grove Elementary School in Anderson School District One.  Rockey is a proven leader with a positive track record of being a listening, a strong voice, and a catalyst for change.

Rockey will take his time and effort to listen to us and incorporate our input into government. He will keep our community safe and clean by taking time to ensure small details are not overlooked. Attention to detail is just one key trait he learned serving our country that will help him Make Williamston ROCK Again!
